BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS (February 27, 2018) – Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina, BVI is welcoming locals back this spring with a partial opening of the private-island resort. The property is the first full-service resort to return to business in the British Virgin Islands in the wake of Hurricane Irma, which made landfall in September 2017.

“Like so many hotels and resorts in the Caribbean, Scrub Island Resort, Spa & Marina was forced to temporarily close this past September in the aftermath of the 2017 hurricane season to assess and recover from damage sustained from the storms,” said Joe Collier, president of Mainsail Lodging & Development. “After months of clean-up and restoration, we’re excited to reopen the resort this spring, once again giving our valued guests access to a slice of private island paradise.”

With the limited opening, Scrub Island Resort will have up to 22 rooms and suites available in Marina Village, including 11 guest rooms and 11 one-bedroom suites complete with gourmet kitchens, spacious living areas and expansive balconies overlooking the marina and Great Camanoe. The resort’s four-bedroom villa, The Reef House, will also be available, featuring a full gourmet kitchen, elevated dining area, a generous, well-appointed living room and balconies off all bedrooms and living spaces, offering endless views of the Caribbean Sea.

Dining options at the resort will include partial openings of Caravela Restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner and the Gourmet Market for provisioning. Ixora Spa will feature a robust menu of treatments and has been temporarily relocated to The Passage House villa, just steps away from Marina Village. With two treatment rooms and a private pool, guests and day visitors can choose from a list of decadent massages, facials, body scrubs and wraps. Other diversions available include the resort’s 24-hour fitness room, 55-slip marina, Pavilion Beach with water sports and North Beach, which offers the ultimate in privacy. The resort’s main pool and pool bar is also scheduled to be back in service by March 15.

In addition to new and updated amenities, Scrub Island is offering Dive BVI excursions to explore the beauty of the British Virgin Islands. Options include The Baths in Virgin Gorda, historic wrecks for diving, Norman Island, and the famous watering holes of Jost van Dyke. For transportation, locals will have access to ferry service to and from Tortola and on-island vehicles available for access to accommodations and amenities.

Always an exclusive getaway, Scrub Island Resort offers private-island luxury now more than ever, with crystal-clear water, pristine beaches and crowd-free vacationing.
